I wasn't too impressed with the off road Humvee tour of Joshua Tree National Forest because it really wasn't off road. It was on a road, albeit a dirt road, the whole time - a nicely graded, well tended, unpaved road. We entered Joshua Tree through some back door that doesn't require paying the usual park admission, then we road to the top of a small summit. The view was nice, the air was crisp, and we got to see a Mojave green rattlesnake, but the price of $149.00 per person was a bit too steep, in my opinion. Read about Mojave rattlers here:

Our tour had two parts - visiting the Thousand Palms Oasis Preserve in a ten passenger van and riding up a hill in Joshua Tree National Forest in a ten passenger Humvee. We switched from van to Humvee in a town called Yucca Valley. |

Yikes. This sign is riddled with bullet holes. |

Beverly and Mike and a Joshua Tree. |

The Joshua trees flowered this year because of abundant rain. |

Fish Out of Water! This rock formation looks like a fish. |
|
We had to have our picture taken with the hummer. |

We made a pit stop at a very cool cafe in Yucca Valley. I liked this decor piece made of gauges. |

I couldn't resist promoting Happy in Hainesport on the cafe's community bulletin board, |
