And We're Off - Keeneland Racecourse

Keeneland Racecourse is located in Lexington, Kentucky.  It sits on the edge of town, across from the airport.  How convenient is that for the rich horsey set?  They can jet into town and, within a matter of minutes, begin wagering away their millions.  Mike had a great time losing his allowance.  The one spot of luck in our day was that the male half of the couple who shared our table turned out to have graduated from the same high school and college as Mike - a year ahead of him.  What are the chances?

These jockeys display the colors of owners who have won stakes races at Keeneland.

Windy and 50°.  It was cold outside, so we spent the day inside watching the races on TV - could have done that in Hainesport!

Mike in his element.

Practicing my victory cheer in case I have a rare opportunity to use it.

I don't know if this horse won or lost.  I just know it's pretty.

The big winner was this yummy cocktail, a Keeneland Breeze.  The recipe was on the glass.
1 part bourbon
A splash of orange liqueur
A squeeze of fresh orange juice
Top off with ginger ale
Serve in an ice filled rocks glass
Garnish with an orange slice
